Sleek and simple modern-style kitchens

Straight lines and bold angles are synonymous with modern design, a style that became popular after World War I. Modern kitchens embrace this clean aesthetic. They have a streamlined and sophisticated look with spaces that feature flat surfaces, frameless cabinet doors, simple hardware, and functional food prep, entertainment, storage and serving areas that are free from ornamentation.

The choice of materials in modern-style kitchens typically include concrete, granite, stainless steel, natural wood and brick. Monochromatic hues are a frequent choice, often accented by brightly colored statement pieces.

Images of modern kitchen designs by Riverhead Building Supply

Riverhead Building Supply remodeled this NYC kitchen to take full advantage of the apartment’s abundance of natural light. Landmark cabinetry by Tedd Wood Fine Cabinetry provides a beautiful modern look, ample storage and superior functionality at a cost that did not impact the owner’s budget. The door style is Yellowstone with a reversed raised center panel, and the door frame is a simple shaker style with a slight bullnose on the interior lip profile on the frame. The cabinets are quarter sawn oak in a light stain called Dovetone. Stainless steel appliances, subway tiles and quartzite countertops reflect the natural light. This fashion forward space maintains its sensibility while showcasing the home’s elegance, art, color and personality.
